Mark Meyerowitz and Sherry Lamagna introduced Ken Thompson and Veronica Reynolds from Shop Rite on Jerusalem Ave. in Uniondale. They have reached out to us to introduce themselves to our community and support our various projects such as the food pantry. They are opening a new store that will be more like a marketplace and will have many diverse food items to accommodate the area around it. It is a family-owned store interested in working with the community. We approached them about working with us at the strawberry festival.
Judy Mankita met with the Advisor of the Builders Club at Grand Ave. school and they would like to be involved with Kiwanis. John Burke and Judy will attend one of their meetings and talk to them about the kids working with us at the pancake breakfast and strawberry festival.
Dave Denenberg informed us about the LI Crisis Center working right here in Bellmore at the Presbyterian Church. They are looking for volunteers to work with them – they are the only teenage hotline and suicide prevention service on LI and could use help.
We were approached by the Shore Rd. school regarding a family in need of shoes for their child – we are going to approach Incredible Feets and Payless for a gift certificate.
