The next divisional meeting will be Wednesday May, 28th at CCA Wantagh High School. The theme of the meeting is, “Go Green!” You will receive 2 credits for attending.

FYI our officers meet on Fridays right after school in room 133. If you have an idea or a question you’d like to present, please feel free to attend!

Strawberry Festival - President Jesse

The annual Strawberry Festival will be taking place from Wednesday May 28th to Sunday June 1st. The Kiwanis need volunteers at the Strawberry Festival on Wed 5/28 3-6pm, Thurs 5/29 1-3pm, Fri 5/30 5-10pm, Sat 5/31 11am-1pm and 4pm–9pm and on Sun 6/1 11am-1pm and 4pm-9pm. You must volunteer for a shift of 3-4 hours to receive 2 credits. Located at the corner of Jerusalem Ave and Newbridge Rd. Report directly to the Strawberry Festival tent. Volunteers will be able to purchase an unlimited rides bracelet for the discounted price of $12.00.

Sunrise Day Camp Walk - Secretary Stephanie

The Sunrise Day Camp Walk will be taking place on Sunday June 8, 2008 to benefit children with cancer at the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds, 75 Colonial Springs Rd, Wheatley Heights, NY 11798. Go to www.sunrisedaycamp.org and click on the link for the walk. To register, click “Join a Team” and select “JFK Bellmore Key Club.” You will receive 2 credits for this event

Read and Lead - Treasurer Daniela

This ongoing event takes place on Thursdays after school from 2:20 to 3:30 p.m., on the following dates: 5/1 (this week), 5/8, 5/15, 5/22, 5/29, 6/5 and 6/12. You must attend at least 6 out of the 8 weeks we go to Reinhart in order to receive 4 credits for this activity. Meet Mrs. Mankita in the Learning Center, room 133 on Thursday immediately after school.

Robbie’s Run - Vice President Rebecca

Robbie’s Run, a walk to raise money for defibrillators and heart disease, is this Sunday, May 18, 2008. There are 2 types of running/ walking activities. The Fun Run starts at 8:30AM (a ½ mile run for fun). The 5K Main Event will begin at 9:15AM, this will be a run/ walk along the streets of Merrick.  Both events will start on the Norman J. Levy Lakeside Elementary school on Babylon Road in Merrick.  Registration forms are available up front. You will receive 2 credits.

Go Green Neighborhood Cleanup - Vice President Phoebe

We are planning a neighborhood cleanup on Bedford Ave in the next month. More info to follow.

Make sure you pick up verification forms for all activities you participate in.  Get them signed before handing them in with your name, grade, and activity listed.  For all activities, the Activity Verification Form must be signed by the advisor, a person running the event, or an officer, and must be handed in within 1 week at our Monday meetings or to Mrs. Marando in rm 308.
