Continuing our efforts to make a difference here in our local community and throughout Long Island, the Kiwanis Club of the Bellmores works very closely with Kiwanis Sponsored Groups at the High School and Middle School levels as well as with Adults with Disabilities.

We are very proud to have the unique opportunity to work with not just one, but two great Key Clubs. These clubs are located at Bellmore's John F. Kennedy High School and Bellmore's Mepham High School.

Furthermore, The Kiwanis Club of the Bellmores is one of the first Long Island based Kiwanis Clubs to sponsor an Aktion Club. We are very happy and excited to begin working with our Aktion Club.

Key Clubs

What is Key Club?

Key Club is the oldest and largest service program for high school students. It's a student-led organization that teaches leadership through serving others. Members of the Kiwanis International family, Key Club members build themselves as they build their schools and communities.

The goals are to introduce new programs, present awards to outstanding clubs, conduct the organization's business, attend educational workshops, and elect District Officers for the upcoming year. Key clubbers share in laughter and tears experiencing motivational speakers, evening dances, scavenger hunts and other games, all while learning how to be a more productive member.

Officers attend workshops specifically designed to train them for their position, teaching them their core roles and allowing them to learn from others who share their responsibilities. In 48 short hours, members often form strong friendships with fellow do-gooders from all ends of New York state.

Our Key Clubs are some of the best around. Operating under the supervision of a Kiwanis Liason and a Teacher Advisor, the Key Clubs is run by students. They hold tons of school wide and community wide events to raise funds and awareness for community causes. Additionally, they assist our club with our events and offer vital support.

Bellmore Mepham Key Club

Our Key Clubs are some of the best around. Operating under the supervision of a Kiwanis Liason and a Teacher Advisor, the Key Clubs is run by students. They hold tons of school wide and community wide events to raise funds and awareness for community causes. Additionally, they assist our club with our events and offer vital support.

Aktion Clubs

What is Aktion Club?

Aktion Club is the newest member of the Sponsored Organizations and Programs at Kiwanis International.  Aktion Club is a community-service group for adult citizens who live with a disability.

Our Aktion Club

The Kiwanis Club of the Bellmores is one of the first Long Island based Kiwanis Clubs to sponsor an Aktion Club.  The development of the "Aktion Club of Nassau Boces RKS at Bellmore JFK" is something that we are extremely proud of.

We would like to offer a special "thank you" to Bellmore Kiwanian, Judy Mankita.  Judy is our liaison to this club as well as the Bellmore John F. Kennedy Key Club and is the creative spark behind the Aktion Club here in Bellmore.  THANKS JUDY !
