New York District Convention, sometimes affectionately dubbed DCON, is a weekend convention bringing together approximately 1,000 Key Club members and their advisors from all around New York state. The goals are to introduce new programs, present awards to outstanding clubs, conduct the organization’s business, attend educational workshops, and elect District Officers for the upcoming year. Key clubbers share in laughter and tears experiencing motivational speakers, evening dances, scavenger hunts and other games, all while learning how to be a more productive member. Officers attend workshops specifically designed to train them for their position, teaching them their core roles and allowing them to learn from others who share their responsibilities. In 48 short hours, members often form strong friendships with fellow do-gooders from all ends of New York state.
