General Meeting April 7 Here are some notes from our general meeting. Open Meeting (Pledge, etc.) Ken Sanger of Built Well Solar gave a great presentation about alternative energy solutions.  He spoke about solar panels and the value of them for your home.  He discussed how quickly the cost is recouped based on your yearly energy bills.  It was very informative and everyone really enjoyed his presentation. Smart Circle Events spoke about their company and what they would be providing via a Vendor both at our Strawberry Festival. Lots of Strawberry Festival information was discussed and updates on our Sponsorship efforts were given.  We have met and will exceed our original goals for our Green Expo which is now sponsored by Alure Home Improvements. Other sponsors include: EmPowerCES, Built Well Solar, Alure, WOW Green (Cleaning Products), Infinity Windows & Doors, Renewal By Anderson (Long Island) PANCAKE BREAKFAST - April 19th is our Annual Pancake Breakfast and this year we are going Green.  We will be using all "Green Friendly" table ware, garbage bags, plates, etc.  We are finalizing our raffle items as well as a VERY SPECIAL SMART CAR RAFFLE HOBY Award – Amanda Hammerman, a sophomore at Bellmore JFK will be sponsored by the Bellmore Kiwanis.  This is a leadership/training seminar. Strawberry Festival Vendors - We are looking for vendors for our Craft Fair/Business Expo at this year' Strawberry Festival.  For more information check www.bellmorekiwanis.org/Strawberry-Festival.html Herald Editorial - VERY EXCITING!! - a well deserved series of articles (2-3) will be developed by Nancy Hiler of the Herald Newspapers and will focus around the wonderful work that the Kiwanis Club of the Bellmores performs as well as the rejuvenation of the club via its new members.  Furthermore, the Meyerowitz family will have a bit of an expose chronicling their involvement in the Kiwanis as well as their interest in community service as a whole.  These articles will also speak about the Kiwanis and Lions clubs upcoming Strawberry Festival and of the Kiwanis' efforts in Going Green.  Keep your eye out for what should be a GREAT few articles!!!
