The 2009 Nassau County Strawberry Festival, sponsored by the Bellmore Kiwanis and Lions Clubs, is coming to North Bellmore next week.

The annual event, which celebrates strawberry season with delicious beverages and foods featuring the fruit, will be held from Wednesday, May 27 through Sumday, May 31 on the grounds of the Jerusalem Ave. School at the corner of Newbridge Rd. in North Bellmore. Festival hours are as follows: Wednesday and Thursday, 6-10 p.m.; Friday, 6-11 p.m.; Saturday, 12 noon-11 p.m.; Sunday, 12- 8 p.m. Admission is $2; parking is free.

In addition to tasty strawberry treats, the family-oriented festival offers carnival foods, and many attractions, including carnival rides and live entertainment each night.

New this year is a “Green Expo” featuring local energy-efficiency and renewable energy vendors, as well as a “SmartCar” raffle. Also, a special “Craft/General Vendor” area has been added.
